The DICOM standard (Digital Imaging and Communications in medicine) establish the basics for communication inside a PACS
(Picture Archiving and Communication system) and are counted among to the standard scope of delivery of each modality vendor – the DICOM
standard enables an easy connection from every modality to the PACS of differentially vendors.
Nevertheless more than 40% of all modalities used in the today routine work aren’t furnished with a DICOM interface, especially ultrasound, endoscopes
and some other modalities outside the radiology department. To provide them with a DICOM interface in most cases imply a great financial effort or in
other case the vendor didn’t offer an adequate solution.
DFC-SYSTEMS offers therefore a various range of solutions (software- or hardware based) to upgrade these kind of modalities with a DICOM interface to
connect them to a PACS and to integrate in the medical workflow inside the clinic, as well also regarding the interfacing to clinical- or radiology
information system via HL7.
